Happy Birthday to our kitty, Nevaeh, who was born 1 year ago on May 1st, 2014. Her birth brought me some much needed hope and joy last year amidst all the grief of Jason's empty due date and my miscarriage of Rae Anne and Hope's Angel birthday coming up. It was a wonderful day for her to be born on because 4 years ago, in 2011, May 1st was the last day of peace and joy that I had with Hope Abigail. On May 2nd is when I started spotting and I rushed to the doctor to get an ultrasound and was told I was probably about to have a a miscarriage and all my hopes and dreams were crushed and stolen for the 2nd time.
Our I guess cat now isn't the friendly, loving cat I was hoping for. I wanted some rainbow healing through her and a friend to comfort me on all my hard days and that is not her personality which has been a disappointment for me. She has her moments when she is loving and friendly, when she is hungry, but, most of the time she is grumpy and ornery and doesn't want anything to do with us. She wants to be in the same room as us and will usually spend her time in the kitchen window watching the birds or sleeping in her play tent or in one of the kid's closets. She does NOT like to be petted and we all have claw wounds from her letting us know that. She hates being brushed and having her claws clipped and it turns into a battle to get that done. The good thing is she did live up to her reputation of Siberian Cats not causing allergies because both my husband and daughter have really bad allergies to animals and it took about a month for them to get use to her and they have had not problems at all. She on the other hand has had all sorts of allergic reactions to every food I tried and different types of litter -- it has been a real nightmare trying to find things that worked for her that she could tolerate!
On my hard days when I am upset and crying I long for her to come and let me pet her, but, she stares at me like I'm an idiot and goes into the other room instead. So unlike the cats of my youth who knew when I was sick or upset and would come and lie next to me and purr to let me know they cared.
At times I have wondered if I made a wise decision last year in buying this kitten, but, she has her moments that bring me peace that makes it all worth it. Watching her sleep and go from all curled up in a ball to spread out like superman is so cute. Just seeing her breathing is a comfort to me because I wanted so much to see that with Janessa as I was holding her. At times, Nevaeh will let me hold and cuddle her like a baby for just a few moments and I love that. I love watching her play with her toys and playing with her especially when she brings her toy spring into me and drops it at my feet wanting me to throw it. I love playing hide and chase when I peek around corners and then she playfully jumps and tries to pounce on me. When we first got her she would come and lay in my lap and sleep and I loved that and I wish she would do that again. I love seeing that at times she follows me around the house and wants to be in the same room as me. I absolutely love it when she rubs and purrs against my legs in the morning when I'm getting her food ready. I guess the thing that has helped me the most is that she has given me a responsibility and someone to take care of, because that is what I'm missing right now is taking care of a 5 year old and 4 year old and 1 year old and baby and although changing a liter box twice a day and refilling water bowels and feeding cat food isn't exactly the same, it gives me a since of duty and responsibility and it helps me get out of bed each morning especially on days when I just don't want to face another day.
So Happy Birthday my Grumpy, not what I was expecting, but acts like one of my kids, kitty-cat Nevaeh! Also known as baby, kitty cat, fluffy, beastie.
